Blue Door, a 1989 R.C. Gorman lithograph, places a seated Navajo woman against the warm adobe wall of a traditional Southwest home, flanked by a weathered cobalt-blue plank door and a hanging ristra of fiery red chiles. Wrapped in a rich raspberry rebozo over a dusty lavender skirt, she turns her face thoughtfully toward the viewer as scattered red and green chile pods dot the ground at her bare feet. The background sky softens from deep indigo at upper left to a warm peach and sherbet glow on the right, suggesting sunset over distant blue mesas. Signed and numbered from a limited edition, Blue Door captures iconic Northern New Mexico imagery and is a standout acquisition for collectors of Gorman adobe scenes, Southwest chile ristra art, and Native American fine art lithographs.
