Artwork Presentation

Framed Pieces

What to expect when you select a framed work

If you selected and purchased a framed piece, the frame and mat will reflect the gallery’s standard presentation. Framed dimensions will be larger than the listed artwork dimensions to account for the mat and frame, and because many pieces are original or hand-finished, measurements may vary slightly.

Why Professional Framing Matters

Framing is part of preservation, not just presentation.

A reputable framer should help protect the paper, image surface, mat, frame, and glazing choices while making sure the artwork remains the visual focus.

Materials and mats

A professional framer can explain archival mat options and why mat acidity, spacing, and contact with the paper matter.

Glass or acrylic

Glazing affects clarity, weight, UV exposure, breakage risk, and long-term care. Your framer can compare glass and acrylic for your setting.

Mounting and handling

Original artwork and fine art paper should be handled carefully. Proper mounting reduces avoidable bends, pressure marks, and surface damage.
