Chamisa, a 1992 R.C. Gorman lithograph, depicts a seated Navajo woman in a vibrant red-orange shawl over a lavender and peach skirt, a glint of turquoise at her ear as she gazes upward. Beside her rests a rounded Acoma-style polychrome olla painted with bird and leaf motifs in black on terracotta. Behind her, two golden chamisa bushes in full yellow bloom flank a hazy sunset horizon that fades from pale yellow at the base through peach and deep cobalt blue above. Gorman captures the vivid color palette of a New Mexico autumn. Signed and numbered from a limited edition, Chamisa is an exceptional acquisition for collectors of Gorman high-desert imagery, Southwest botanical art, and Native American fine art lithographs.
