Chimayo Day

Chimayo Day, a 1982 R.C. Gorman lithograph, captures the hushed luminosity of midday over the Chimayo valley with a lone standing Navajo woman wrapped in a red-and-cream gradient rebozo. She faces away toward a distant rose-pink butte silhouetted against a cool cream sky, her small figure dwarfed by the vast open desert floor rendered in soft dusty lavender and tan.
