Acoma is a 1983 R.C. Gorman lithograph pairing two of the artist’s most enduring motifs: the contemplative Pueblo woman and the storied pottery of the Acoma people. A figure draped in a deep crimson blanket kneels beside a large polychrome Acoma olla decorated with stylized parrots, florals, and flowing geometric scrolls in classic red, orange, and black on cream. The backdrop dissolves from a warm amber horizon into a dusky purple sky, lending a ceremonial, almost reverent stillness.
