Angelina (white) is a 1974 R.C. Gorman black-and-white lithograph and the monochrome companion to Angelina (color), showing how much drama Gorman could pull from a single ink. A woman’s profile emerges from sweeping brush strokes of deep black, her face caught in a bright swath of unprinted paper and her hair flowing in aggressive calligraphic gestures. The result is closer to Japanese sumi-e ink work than a conventional portrait. Released as a very small edition of only 27 (approx. 22 x 30 in.), Angelina (white) is one of the rarest items in the Gorman print catalog and a must-see for serious collectors of early Gorman lithographs, rare editions, and gestural Native American fine art prints.
