Apache Devil Dancer is a 1956 R.C. Gorman etching — one of the earliest works in his catalog and a rare window into his student-era practice. It portrays a traditional Apache Crown Dancer (Gáán), a sacred mountain-spirit figure, mid-stride with a sword-like wand raised and the distinctive stepped wooden crown headdress towering above. The etched line is loose, energetic, and expressionistic, washed over with warm red, gold, and cream plate tones. From a tiny edition of only 4 (approx. 3 x 4 in.), this intimate miniature is museum-rare and an exceptional find for serious collectors of early R.C. Gorman etchings, Apache ceremonial art, and vintage Native American fine art.
