Chinle

Chinle, a 1982 R.C. Gorman lithograph, depicts two seated Navajo women in flowing turquoise-blue dresses against a sweeping desert landscape, their heads bent together in quiet companionship. A bold black-on-terracotta Acoma olla painted with flowing bird motifs sits on the earth beside them, while the background rises into deep burgundy and plum canyon walls behind a pale tan desert floor.
