Colorado, a 1992 R.C. Gorman lithograph, places a Navajo woman at the foot of a deep red rock canyon, a turquoise river curling around the sandy shore where she sits. She cradles a large Acoma-style olla painted with bold black and terracotta designs, dressed in a cream blouse and a full skirt that graduates from soft lavender to deep coral. Turquoise earrings and a woven sash add quiet color notes. Gorman sculpts the canyon walls in blushing salmon and rose against a pale buttery sky, the whole scene radiating the warm glow of the Colorado Plateau at first light. A must-have acquisition for collectors of Gorman lithographs, Southwest fine art, and Native American figurative prints.
