Lovilla (1984) is an R.C. Gorman stone lithograph depicting a seated Native woman enveloped in a broad, richly colored blanket. Her head tilts upward in profile, giving the figure a reflective, almost meditative presence, while her relaxed posture and extended legs create a strong diagonal rhythm across the composition.

The blanket is rendered in layered bands of crimson, rose, violet, and muted gray, contrasting with the woman’s pale lavender blouse and white skirt. Gorman’s handling of the fabric gives the figure a sculptural, enveloping form, while the exposed hands, feet, and elongated neck add grace and delicacy. Set against a subdued mauve background, the composition feels intimate, balanced, and quietly expressive. Produced in an edition of 200, Lovilla is a distinctive example of Gorman’s mid-1980s figurative work and an appealing piece for collectors of Native American art, seated-figure compositions, and Southwest stone lithographs.
